Birthing plans
Before your baby is due, you will have a chance to talk to your provider about your wishes for delivery. You can use this simple Birth Preparation Guide to outline those wishes. Our office encourages as natural a delivery as possible. We recommend you explore unmedicated pain management techniques including the Bradley Method and Lamaze. Many of our patients also employ the services of doulas for support during labor.
Medically necessary interventions
While a natural unmedicated childbirth might be what you want, occasionally other interventions are necessary for your health and the health of your baby. Your provider will discuss these needs with you should they arise. Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center offers state-of-the-art obstetric services to provide you and your baby with the care you need before, during and after labor.
A note about home births & water births
The providers at Novant Health Triad Obstetrics & Gynecology do not attend home births. Instead, we encourage patients to ask us about the advantages of going to the hospital and understanding how many parts of the home birth experience can be enjoyed in a hospital setting, along with access to advanced medical help for you and your baby.
Water births are not allowed at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. You will be free to use the shower or tub in the earlier stages of your labor.
